When You’re More Than A little Obsessed with Cutesy/Kawaii Manga and Other Bookish Observations of an Anime/Manga Nerd!

So, my latest ThriftBook Haul should probably come as none too surprising to my friends and family because….I am an anime/manga enthusiast/nerd and I kinda live and breathe cutesy/kawaii manga/anime/light novels etc. First observation that I had about Thriftbooks and really kawaii manga, is that they have a really large, varied selection of titles that either we read as kids or they’re just not being published anymore. It gives you access to purchasing a lot of rare titles and at great prices too. Now, keep in mind, I’m a book thrifter which means I don’t really care what condition they come in as long as they’re still readable. For some people, this may be an issue. Because when book thrifting, you’re more often than not going to get a very used, beat up kinda copy unless you pay more for a new one and I’m the type of person who’s like “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it?” Yeah. So, another observation is you can pretty much find anything on Thriftbooks as long as you know what you’re kinda into or looking for. Again, great prices. Rare titles. But one downside would definitely be is the rarer the title, especially with manga editions, is that they will only have a copy every so often that pops up on the site for sale. So, when in doubt, Thriftbook it out! Get that book when you see it cause it’s not gonna be there next time I can almost guarantee it. So, about this latest haul that I did? These are the titles that I picked up:

  • Mamotte! Lollipop Series up to Vol. 5
  • Pita 10 Series, the Entire Series up to Vol. 8
  • Koi Cupid Vol. 1
  • Tokyo Mew Mew A La Mode Omnibus

So, one thing I realized, especially after getting the copy of Koi Cupid Vol. 1, is it’s going to be incredibly hard or near impossible to find the second volume because the publishing company that made it has gone completely out of business, whether it’s just in the U.S. or not, I’m not entirely sure. But I know that in Japan, the series volumes goes up to like vol. 5 in Japanese so probably still a thing in Japan but not the U.S. I will, however continue to keep an eye on it and see if I can get my hands on some of maybe the Japanese copies. I’m taking Japanese as my foreign language in college so hopefully that’ll help a bit. The Tokyo Mew Mew A La Mode Omnibus was a bit of a surprise to find, but lately I’m not not as surprised because I know ThriftBooks knows their stuff and they acquire a really vast, varied, large selection of titles that you wouldn’t even really dream of thinking of. Pita 10 is definitely a nostalgia thing for me. I read it I think in middle school, and well, I’ve never let go of it. Mamotte! Lollipop series is definitely a new one for me and I’m really excited about it. There was another series I was looking at too, but they didn’t have many of the volumes in stock at the time, so I put it on my wishlist to come back to it later. Pixie Pop is also a new series and I’m super excited about that as well. The copies I wasn’t able to get right now, I will keep an eye out for. Like I said, I’m a daily ThriftBook user, so I have kinda an eagle eye when it comes to finding things I like on there. Next up, I know I keep saying I’m going to post the Intro to Chicken Soup for the College Soul but I keep becoming less motivated. It’s not that it’s a great series, it’s just I’m already going to school full time now and sometimes I just don’t like to think about college anymore than I have to. But yes, that should, keyword should, be up next. Until next time, get excited, get hyped and as always, happy reading-Caroline
