Reading Update: Bunheads: Where I’m At and How I Feel About It

“You sure are different, Ward.” He pauses. “And I like that about you. And I think what you’re doing is great. I just wonder if it leaves you any time for a life.” I bristle at this. “Dancing is my life,” I say without thinking.”

Hannah to Jacob on page 75 of Chapter 9 of Bunheads by Sophie Flack

Hey guys! Good evening. I know it’s been awhile since I did a Bunheads update but that’s because I finished The Thousandth Floor last night and I’m about to finish the first book in The Heir spin off series tonight. A lot of reading, ya? I know. I’m a book addict but there’s worse things out there than that. Anyways, I’m on chapter 10 of the book and it’s awesome. I’m really enjoying a great ballet romance where it’s not all about how some girl falls in love with some guy. It’s about the girl and her love of ballet and her friends. Huzzah for dance chick girl power! As someone who trained in dance myself, this type of dance/ballet genre holds a very special place in my heart. So let me give you a cliff notes version on what’s happening in these chapters. Hannah has gotten thrown into center stage with the ballet company because the ballerina that she was under studying has gotten injured in a crucial time in the ballet season so she’s performing nonstop as the lead in all the shows. This basically has boosted her career tenfold but has destroyed almost all of her personal relationships and she’s starting to wonder…does she love dance enough to give up other aspects of life, or will she have to give up her love of dancing just to live and maybe even love? Stay tuned for more updates. It’s getting deliciously drama like and I love every minute of it. So, until next time, happy reading. -Caroline
